i don't love concerts. i like alot of things about concerts, but all in all, i don't have the wherewithal to keep tuned in for as long as it requires. also, i hate that bands don't start playing until several hours after they are billed as starting. seriously. they know when they're going to go on. why not tell us poor suckers that the 8 oclock show doens't really start until 11:30?
i digress.
that said, Wilco was flawless. that's what comes from playing for 14 years together, i suppose. i've never given them much attention because their music always seemed so safe, so sterile. 3 chords, acoustic guitar, long, boring guitar jams. the soundtrack to a summer barbeque on a deck of a house overrun with 30-something artsy (but not TOO artsy) types.
have i overlooked a solid, consistent band that trancends every age group with its simple to swallow alt-folk? possibly. but i'll probably continue to like them with the same distant curiosity as they seem to keep from their music.
